For 20 years, SLC Interiors in So. Hamilton, Mass., has been offering clients a high level of design services including space planning, material selections, kitchen and bathroom design, project management, and procurement of antiques, furniture, rugs, and artwork. The design process begins with consideration of the architecture and setting of a home. The firm’s design style is classic and traditional, but includes many vernaculars from beach casual, to Hudson River urban, to trendy and pop art. Its aim is to take clients’ design ideas and desires and "bring them to another level." Designers travel the world to find unusual and luxurious materials, such as reclaimed limestone from the Middle East and hand-blocked wallpapers from England, as well as antiques and art. The goal at SLC is "to integrate the many levels of visual information within a space into a composition of balance and beauty – creating rooms with a living palette of warmth, texture, light, and contrast."

After earning a master’s degree in interior design from UMASS-Amherst, Susanne Lichten Csongor was freelancing for several design firms when she landed a client of her own and launched SLC Interiors. Twenty years later, the company has five designers, plus Csongor, and four administrators. It tackles about 15 high-end residential interior design projects a year, from New York to Miami, and Boston to Nantucket and Cape Cod. Csongor is involved in every level of every project. And, she prides herself on building relationships with everyone involved, from the client to the architect, builder, and all the vendors. "Most important is the service we give clients," said Csongor. "That’s why they stay with us. It’s the highest level of service out there."
