Vince Todd began practicing his craft as a cabinetmaker in a shop in Lee, N.H., in 1987. Today, V. Todd & Company, Inc., in Durham, N.H., is a general contracting company that applies the same skill and detail of fine cabinetry making to residential architecture. The firm works exclusively on architect-designed projects and believes collaboration is key to a project’s success. Beginning at ground level, it serves as a resource for both architect and homeowner by creating a team of carpenters, tradesmen, and artisans who work together on site to ensure every detail is addressed and carefully crafted. Todd himself is also hands-on at the site. Inspired by its client’s vision, V. Todd achieves the intended design through a streamlined building experience that focuses on open communication, cooperation, and fine construction. The results are exceptional and elaborately tailored homes, whether they are zero-energy, shingle-style, or modern.

MEET THE LEADERS

Building comes naturally to Vince Todd, the son of a British architect and a descendent of Norwegian carpenters. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and studied architecture, carpentry, and boat building in the Boston area, before heading back to his New Hampshire roots and starting a cabinet making company in 1987. During two decades, he has grown the business into a general contracting company that builds fine homes. A lifelong sailor, Todd built his first wooden boat when he was 19. He attributes his obsession with details in housing construction to his early boat building experiences. "If you get them right from the start, it sets the best design in motion," says Todd. "Muddle them up, and you’ll be chasing them down to the end."
