$1.4B Downtown Quincy Makeover
A massive overhaul plan to revitalize Quincy took a step forward when New York-based Street-Works Development said it had hired Boston’s Suffolk Construction to spearhead the massive project. The project, which has been in planning stages for years, is a $1.4 billion proposed plan to essentially transform downtown Quincy into a contemporary residential and retail destination. In the plan, Street-Works would add stores, restaurants, parks, tree-lined walkways and 1,100 new residences to a 10-block area in the downtown area. “This is a transformational project,’’ said Suffolk chief executive John Fish, adding that the contract is the largest in his firm’s portfolio. “There is a tremendous opportunity here when you think of the city’s historic significance, its waterfront, its medical community, and its proximity to Boston.’’ To read more about this project in the Boston Globe, click here.
