Micro-housing popping up in cities around the country

In some of the nation’s most expensive places to live, a new trend is popping up for those looking to find more affordable housing: Micro-apartments that typically range anywhere from 180 to 300 square feet. More than 40 of the developments have been built in Seattle, while the trend has also found its way into Boston, San Francisco, Providence, R.I., New York, and Portland, Ore. The trend is based around the apartments’ affordability, as a typical 250-square-foot apartment in Seattle will rent for around $800 a month, as opposed to the average $1,400 people pay for newly built studios for 400 square feet or more, according to the CNNMoney article.
