At the Sudbury Design Group in Sudbury, Mass., a team of landscape architects, graphic designers, urban planners and engineers creates outdoor projects that harmonize architectural elements with the natural environment. The team, which also includes masons and horticulturists, designs and builds outdoor pools, spas, terraces, gardens, tennis courts, garden ornamentation and lighting, and offers land planning for both residential and commercial projects. It also works collaboratively with other professionals involved, such as architects, contractors and interior designers. The company's goal is to preserve the integrity of the land, while providing maximum use and enjoyment of the area for clients.

MEET THE LEADERS
Michael Coutu, president of the Sudbury Design Group, has been involved in landscape architecture for more than 25 years. Under his leadership, the former Landscape Creations Inc. — founded in 1959 — was reorganized in 1997 as the Sudbury Design Group. It offers planning, design and build, and landscape architecture for residential and commercial projects throughout New England. Coutu received an associate's degree in landscape operations from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in 1974, and a bachelor's degree in environmental design from the University of Massachusetts in 1976.
